Why People are Going Part Time

May 11th, 2012

If you are unfortunate enough to have been one of the millions to have lost your job in this bad economy, then you realize how desperate times truly are.  Literally, millions of people have lost their livelihood and are struggling to put food on the table.  This is due to troubled times in a bad economy.

This is the reason, so many people are taking any work they can get and are agreeing to work part time.  With employment rates at all time highs, this leaves many people with no other option than to take a part time job if they can not secure full time employment.  It seems that there are many more people may be looking for part time employees rather than full time.

When you are struggling to make ends meet and are looking for work, you most likely will take whatever you can get to provide food and shelter for yourself.  The job market these days is a scary place and it most certainly can make even the most confident and educated of people feel rejected and insecure.

Yet, another reason many people are taking part time work may be to help ensure they do not get into a situation where they do not know where their next meal is coming from.  A lot of people are really afraid that they too, may be cast aside at any time by their employer and feel that they have to be proactive and help secure their financial position.

So, the reasons for people going part time are due to a bad economy and trying to survive at a time when the unemployment rate exceeds 10% in the majority of 50 states within the U.S.  Experts are proclaiming that this is the worst unemployment rate reported in over 25 years.

Where Today’s Jobs Are

March 17th, 2012

In a time when the millions of people are facing unemployment, it is harder than ever to try and keep a job, let alone find a job.  If you are looking for work these days, you best be equipped with the training and education in an area where it is needed, or you too will be struggling to make ends meet like so many others these days.

However, even though we are continuously hearing daily reports of how people are struggling, businesses are failing and the entire world is going in a downward spiral, there is hope for job seekers.

There are still jobs available for people who are looking but you need to know what jobs are in demand in a time when it seems companies are failing one after the other. If you listen to the news, you most likely will get the impression that is useless to look for a job, but take heart, there are areas where employment can be found.

Listed below are some areas that careers are still available in today’s job market:

1.  Medical field – Regardless, of how bad things may be and how broke everyone is, there is always a need for people in the medical field.  There will always be sick people as long as there is a society, and this is a field where you are most certainly guaranteed to find work.

2.  Education – Just as there is always a need for medical, there is the same need for education. Teachers, assistants and instructors are thriving in a time where others are barely surviving, so this is a great time to be in education because you are most likely gainfully employed.

The Difficulties of Getting a Full Time Job with a Bad Economy

January 6th, 2012

Are you struggling to make ends meet these days?  If so, you are not alone.  Unemployment rates are at an all time high, and most exceed what they were over 25 years ago.  This makes for a very difficult and discouraging job market.  This is most likely one of the worst times many of us have witnessed when it comes to landing a job.

Coupled with the fact that so many people are unemployed and that jobs are much scarcer than in the past, this makes finding a full time job more difficult than ever.  With so many people looking for work, and so little work being available, this can really be tough for even the highest of educated people.

Just the other day, I heard on the news that 700 people had applied for a janitorial position in the United States. Can you imagine that? This is a blue collar job that most certainly renders a low wage, and 700 people applied for it?  This is a huge indicator of just how trying these times are.

If you are unfortunate enough to have lost your job, and are looking for a full time job in this difficult economy, you should certainly brace yourself for a lot of rejection.  For many of us, this time represents when we must put on a thick skin and trudge through rejection after rejection until we can finally find employment.

The difficulties of getting a full time job with this economy are numerous and so discouraging that may of us tend to get stressed out at the mere thought of having to try and find work.  This is not a task for the weary, and in order to succeed you must be prepared to do a lot of searching with the possibility of rejection after rejection before you actually land a job
